I know that anything recorded on basically every form of media storage can be extracted somehow. I have always loved photography - from the process of taking photos and manually developing them in the darkroom, to being in awe of what digital cameras can do today, to simply looking at photographs and feeling the emotions they invoke - not just mine, but all photographs in general. There are many memories I have lost in this mess.odds and ends from my wedding day, a cross-country move, photos of my mom and sister, who I do not have the chance to see often, watching the puppy that I adopted from a rescue grow up, and everything else in between. I have been walked through every step that Apple Support could provide - I can retrieve a few photos from backups when I first received my iPhone, but there are hundreds more that are gone.
I know that the settings I have for backups are basically only saving my photos and contacts - apps can be re-downloaded, contacts can be re-entered, but photos deleted will disappear. They asked fellow staff members for assistance in finding a solution, but could not figure out anything they could do. Everyone I spoke with from Apple Support was kind, genuine, and empathized with the situation. I explained that everything had transferred over correctly when I had restored and backed up, except for my photos. By the time I got to my third phone call, I was trying to hold back tears and sobs because my photos did not load from the backup.
The first two individuals advised me on how to back up my phone, restore it to factory settings, and then restore my data from the iCloud backup. I specifically called in because I wanted to ensure that my photos would be backed up and restored correctly. I called in to Apple Support and was on the phone with three different people for probably the span of about an hour total. (My hands are slightly scarred and cut up for various reasons - when I have been fingerprinted for jobs in the past they have ALWAYS had difficulties with properly getting legible prints). I figured it would be important to know my passcode in case touch ID stopped working. I have the memory of a goldfish, and when I woke up, I had forgotten the passcode, but I was able to get into my phone using touch ID. I changed my iPhone passcode very early this morning, simply because I know it's good practice to change your passwords every once in a while to avoid fraud.
